Fill job applications at the speed of thought with private slash commands.

Getting Started

What is SlashApply?

SlashApply is a Chrome extension that helps you fill repetitive job application fields instantly. Create reusable templates, snippets, and variables, then use slash commands (//command) to insert them on any website.

Installation

  1. Install SlashApply from the Chrome Web Store
  2. Click the SlashApply icon in your toolbar to set up your first profile
  3. Add your resume, create templates, and define variables
  4. On any job application, type // to see available templates

Common Tasks

Creating Templates

Templates are reusable text snippets with variables. Create them in the SlashApply sidebar:

Using Variables

Variables store frequently-used information. Define them once, then use them in templates:

Uploading a Resume

Store your resume PDF or DOCX for quick access on any job site:

Managing Profiles

Create separate profiles for different job search contexts:

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored locally on your computer using Chrome's extension storage and IndexedDB. Your resume, templates, and variables are never sent to our servers or any third party.

Q: Can I sync data across devices?

Currently, data is local to each device. If you reinstall Chrome or the extension, your data will be lost. We recommend exporting your data regularly from the Settings tab for backup.

Q: Why isn't the resume filling all fields?

Some job sites use advanced file upload handlers that override standard browser behavior. Try using "Click to fill" mode instead, or download your resume and upload it manually. If a specific site isn't working, please report it.

Q: How do I export my data?

Open SlashApply settings (click the pill, then Settings tab), and click "Export Data". This creates a JSON file with all your profiles, templates, and variables for backup or migration.

Q: Can I use SlashApply on incognito/private windows?

By default, extensions don't run in private browsing mode. To enable SlashApply: go to chrome://extensions, find SlashApply, and toggle "Allow in incognito".

Q: The slash palette isn't appearing. What should I do?

Reload the page or click the SlashApply helper pill to reactivate it. If that doesn't work, try disabling and re-enabling the extension, or reinstalling it.

Q: How do I delete my data?

Uninstalling the extension will remove all local data. Alternatively, open SlashApply settings and click "Reset to sample data" to clear your profiles, templates, and variables.
